Sales Funnels and Why It Matters

What Is A Sales Funnel?

A sales funnel is a visual metaphor for the path taken by a potential customer as he or she moves towards becoming a customer. Frequently used by sales and marketing organizations, the sales funnel helps companies understand and visualize their sales process and measure overall conversion success between each step of the funnel.

A sales funnel is shaped like an inverted pyramid, similar to real-world funnels, to which the metaphor alludes. The width of each part of the funnel reflects the audience size, with the top of the funnel being the widest and the bottom being the smallest. Continue reading “Sales Funnels and Why It Matters”

Customer Journey Discovery

Nearly every day, consumers engage with brands, but how they engage, when they engage, and why they engage is unique to each person. Successful marketers know that having a great product and solution alone won’t bring you new business. To attract and retain customers, marketers must also focus on the customer experience, and today this means building a relationship with your audience through every stage of the customer journey. Content Marketing Essentials for Small Businesses

Many small businesses believe (or hope) that creating a Facebook and Twitter page will get them more sales fast. WRONG. Just having a presence on social media is simply not good enough. It takes time and genuinely interesting content to gain the attention of your target audience.

There’s an element of chicken and egg about this. You need the search engines to rank you highly but they won’t do that if your site is static and the content doesn’t change. You need to demonstrate expertise and insight and provide regular, fresh and useful content then tell people about it. I’m often asked whether this is giving away the family jewels. I prefer to call it ‘give to get’. To some extent, you have to showcase your knowledge. Not everyone will be in position to take your advice anyhow and a percentage of those that simply don’t have the time will make an enquiry. SEO is the practice of increasing your website’s page rankings and the quality and quantity of traffic that visits your website via organic search engine results. SEO, in conjunction with the incorporation of effective keywords, helps users find your page when typing in an inquiry into their preferred search engine (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.). It’s essentially the spotlight that you use to make your website shine and stand out from the competition. Best practices have changed significantly over the years as search engine algorithms change.
